遮光罩是套在照相机镜头前的常用摄影附件，有金属、硬塑、软胶等多种材质。它的作用有以下几点：
1.在逆光、侧光或闪光灯摄影时，能防止非成象光的进入，避免雾霭。
2.在顺光和侧光摄影时，可以避免周围的散射光进入镜头。
3.在灯光摄影或夜间摄影时，可以避免周围的干扰光进入镜头。
4.可以防止对镜头的意外损伤，也可以避免手指误触镜头表面，还能在某种程度上为镜头遮挡风沙、雨雪。
遮光罩广泛用于逆光摄影，一般说来可以避免眩光。但是，如果光源距离近，仍有可能发生眩光现象。此时，可以用手在光源所在的一侧遮挡遮光罩。眩光是否消除，要从取景器里观察清楚。一般来说，镜头都会标配遮光罩的，不过不同的镜头所配的遮光罩也是不同的，并且许多产品之间是不能相互换用的。
