其原理是标记抗原(已知的)和被测抗原即非标记抗原(待测的)对限量的特异性抗体的竞争性抑制反应。标记抗原和非标记抗原的免疫活性完全相同，具有相同的亲和能力，当标记抗原和特异性抗体保持恒定时，标记抗原抗体复合物的形成是受非标记抗原的含量所制约，二者呈一定的逆相关函数关系。放射免疫分析具有特异性强、灵敏度高、操作简便等特点，是目前其他定量分析法所无可比拟的。可应用于激素测定，应用于肿瘤细胞的单克隆抗体检测液中肿瘤相关抗原浓度测定，作为疾病和肿瘤的诊断，或辅助诊断或监测的方法之一。
