攀兽目即树??类，仅树??科一科，是特产于亚洲南部、东南部的一个小目。树??是现存最原始的真兽类之一，与真兽类的早期成员非常接近。树??同时拥有食虫目和灵长目的特征，很接近于灵长目的祖先类型，其分类地位也曾有过多种意见，最早曾被划入食虫目，后有人将其改列为灵长目，也有人将其和象??合并，现在一般将其置于独立的目，并可和灵长目、皮翼目、翼手目以及已经灭绝的近猴目置于同一个总目。树??体型类似长嘴的松鼠。树??多数为树栖性，也有不少种类为地栖性或者常出现在地面，为杂食性，动作敏捷，富于攻击性。树??科分为树??亚科和笔尾树??亚科。其中笔尾树??亚科仅含夜行性的笔尾树??一种，分布于马来半岛、苏门达腊和加里曼丹，其最显著的特征是尾巴的大部分有鳞而无毛，而在尾尖有一撮长毛，好似毛笔。其它的树??均属于树??亚科，多数有似松鼠般蓬松的尾巴，但也有少数种类尾巴为短毛，但均无鳞片。树??亚科成员为昼行性，视觉要好于笔尾树??，而大脑也更加发达。
