冰岩心 在冰川、冰原上钻取的冰体岩心。主要用于研究冰体的结构、构造、所含微粒、氢氧同位素的比值变化及其它化学元素的含量变化，进而推测地球上的气候变化序列及其年代。格陵兰世纪营（camp century）的冰岩心分析，得出距今19000～23000、46000～56000、68900～74000年前属于较温暖时期的结论。在南极冰盖地区，也钻取过大量冰岩心，得出各种不同的分析曲线。如苏联东方站，根据所采的2000米冰岩心分析，得出16万年来的气候变化曲线；伯德站冰岩心的分析表明，距今25000、31000和39000年前为较温暖时期，距今27000、34000和46000年为较寒冷阶段。
