劣戳攫热黔馨饭产泛箱漏渠，兼有滞洪和灌概之利。古代还大量利用井水灌溉，用以排涝及减少盐碱化。近代巴基斯坦建大坝蓄水灌溉，地下水位上升，发展深井抽水灌溉并垂直排水。20世纪60年代末有深井5.5万眼。全国灌溉面积约1200万公顷。水利技术颇有特色。 印度北部有印度河、恒河等，19世纪以来建有不少规模宏伟的水利工程，科技水平较高。自北部向中部过渡有阿哈尔(Ahar)工程，是传统的临时蓄水灌溉。中部及南部没有常年不断流的河流与古代就利用破塘灌溉，渠塘结合形成阪塘群。20世纪60年代末灌溉面积约3800万公顷，引深层地下水的约占60%，井渠等小型工程灌溉面积占总面积的2/3o 斯里兰卡东北部较早，自古以渠塘结合的灌溉著名。公元前3世纪已建有较大土坝，公元前1世纪的阿里撒拉(Ahsara)渠，长50公里，现在尚可过水28米“/秒。古都阿努拉德普勒(Anuradhapura)以南百余公里间有破塘1.5万座，大多建于4一14世纪间。渠塘发展为大水库与长渠和小塘结合，工程巨大。本世纪60年代末灌溉面积约33万公顷。 尼泊尔以山区梯田种稻，平原引洪连续淤灌著名。孟加拉亦有引洪灌溉，水利以防洪、防潮最为重要。 (姚汉源)
