用专用的全景相机旋转拍摄或专业的暗房师手工拼接，无论哪种方法，都是普通摄影爱好者很难做到的。APS相机所吹嘘的“全景”只是利用了超广角镜头的大视角，严格来说称之为“遮幅照片”更为合适。数码相机和数码影像处理技术的普及使全景摄影变得容易起来，只要有一台数码相机和可以运行图像处理软件的电脑，谁都可以尝试制作视角惊人的全景照片。
使用数码相机以旋转方式，每选择15°～35°拍摄一张，一张和一张间要重叠超过30％，然后，使用拼接软件，做出一张360°或者180°（没有准确订约，就是比广角的要大的幅面）的无缝摄影图片，这一种摄影就叫数码全景摄影。
