浅海养殖在低潮线以下的海域饲养或培养海洋水产经济动植物的生产。主要养殖品种为贝类、藻类和鱼虾类。贝类的主要养殖方式为:浮筏养殖、棚架养殖、海底布养、海底投石等。藻类的主要养殖方式为筏式养殖。网箱养殖为浅海鱼虾养殖的主要方式。1951年中国的海带人工筏式养殖法研究成功，对推动中国的浅海养殖具有重要意义，以后筏式养殖应用到贻贝、牡蝠、马氏珠母贝、鲍鱼、扇贝、魁蛤等品种，是浅海养殖高产的养殖方式之一。
