    白三叶又名三叶草、白车轴草,属豆科车轴草属多年生草本植物。
    白三叶原产于欧洲及亚洲小亚细亚地区,由于其适应性强,匍匐生长,节间着地生根,生长快,绿期长,已在我国大部分地区引种,是一种较理想的园林绿化草坪型地被植物。
    由于对白三叶草的生长习性缺乏了解,不少人认为不能刈割修剪,否则会枯死。其实白三叶草同禾本科草坪草一样,也应经常修剪。因白三叶草生长快,密度大,根部长期不通风,极易发生病虫害。尤其进入开花结实期,花莛高出叶面,残花败果干枯,大大降低了观赏价值。此时,应采用剪草机剪去植株高度的三分之一,然后浇透水。修剪后新叶长出,不仅使草坪复绿更新,根部通风换气,避免霉变,同时也使叶面上的病虫害得到清除,还可回收部分种子。剪下的叶子既可加工成饲料,又可沤制有机肥料还田。因此,常修剪白三叶可以一举多得。(源自《中国花卉报》2004.06.15)
