世界上最大的气垫登陆艇是前苏联海军在1986年开始服役的“贼鸥”级。该艇满载排水量370吨；长57.6米，宽21.5米，&127;甲板总面积超过700平方米。艇上有一个用于装载车辆的宽约 5&127;米的从艏至艉的通舱，它按“滚进／滚出”的方式布置。艇首和艇尾各有一个吊门，供履带式和软式车辆出入。在艇舯两侧各布置了一对用于垫升的燃气轮机，此外在艉部还有 3部用于推进的燃气轮机。
该艇的装载量约为 100吨，可运送 3艘机动摩托艇或 10&127;艘小型运输艇加 1个步兵连。其主要任务是用于两栖作战，也可用于后勤运输。别看“贼鸥”级气垫登陆艇的航速并不突出，为60节，但其武备要比通常的登陆艇配备的多，有两门30毫米舰炮，2座四联装sa-&127;n-5舰空导弹系统和两座可伸缩的 122毫米火箭发射装置，自卫防空能力较强。但由于该级艇不能进入“伊万·罗戈夫”大型船坞登陆舰的坞舱，因此不能随之进行远洋活动。
