性质:针状结晶。熔点44℃(58℃),沸点285℃,172-175℃(2.4kPa),155℃(1.33kPa)。易溶于醇和醚,微溶于热水。溶液在光的影响下能氧化成3,4-二甲氧基苯甲酸。有香荚兰果实香。

制备方法:由3-甲氧基-4-羟基苯甲醛(香兰醛)与硫酸二甲酯反应而得。

用途:该品为有机合成中间体。医药工业用来合成药物甲基多巴,也用于生产兽药磺胺增效剂敌菌净。将这种兽药以0.02%(重量)配入饲料中,使饲料中添加的碘胺药增效,用于防治家禽细菌感染。
