植物形态:常绿灌木,高达3米。小枝纤弱,徒长枝有棘刺,叶互生,革质,具油腺点,叶片椭圆形,长6~10厘米,宽2.5~4厘米,两端渐尖,全缘或有波状锯齿,上面深绿色,下面淡绿色,中脉稍凸起;箭叶狭长。两性花,腋生,白色,芳香,花萼小,5裂,花瓣5片,质厚,雄蕊多数,花丝合生;子房上位,花柱粗大,早落,柱头头状。柑果扁圆形或圆形,直径约4厘米,顶端稍凹入,基部圆形,果皮朱红色;内瓤7瓣,果肉赤橙色,汁橙黄色。种子卵形,先端有短咀状突起。 生态分布:产我国南部各省。 药用部分:叶(桔叶)、果皮(陈皮)、种子及桔络均入药,秋季采收。 用途:叶性味苦,平;能行肝气,消肿毒,倒胸肋逆气,治乳痈,乳癌,乳痛等。皮性味辛、苦、温;能理气,健脾胃,燥湿化痰,治胸腹胀满,食欲不振,呕吐腹泻,咳嗽等症。核性味苦,平;能消肿止痛。桔络性味苦,平;能通络,顺气,活血,化痰。用量:核1~3钱;桔络5分~1钱,果皮1~3钱,叶1~2钱。
