化学式SiC,俗称金刚砂。纯品为无色晶体,属原子晶体,一般因含杂质而呈暗黑色。硬度9,仅次于金刚石,密度2.317g/cm3,熔点约2700℃(升华并开始分解)。难溶于水和酸。可用于制砂轮、磨石、砂布、研磨粉、耐火材料等。碳化硅单晶可制电子器件。将石英砂、焦炭在电炉中强热可制得。金刚砂狭义指碳化硅,广义是用作磨料的金刚石、石榴石、碳化硅及刚玉的统称。
