In this paper, only based on the current application of the flange joints used in the liquidated gas stations, the problems existing were discussed, some of which should be improved or, at least, be attached importance.

In order to solve the leakage problem of the flange joints in braking pipeline system for present freight cars,analysis and investigation are made on the present flange joints structure and operation of freight cars in field,and improvement is made on the flange joints.

Creep relaxation of bolted flanged joints often gradually results in residual stress reduction of the gasket,which gradually makes the joints reliability lower and finally leads to leakage failure at elevated temperature.

The static temperature field distribution of flanged joints was simulated by 3-D FEA,the results show that the calculative values accord well with data of the measurement.
