集材索道类型很多，结构各异。根据有无中间支架分单跨和多跨索道；根据木材移动的动力分重力和动力索道；根据承载索的工作状态分承载索固定式、松紧式、运行式索道和循环式曲线索道；根据集运原木、原条或伐倒木的悬吊状态分全悬式和半悬式索道。
