文光塔在富顺县东湖乡同心村的同心山上，座东向西。有“富顺文笋”之称。
县志载：晋葛仙翁炼丹于此，常有异人同炼，故名同心山，后建同心观。宋邑人吕震、吕糙读书其上，俱以文显，山顶建塔９层，宛如玉笔指天，曰“文笔塔”。又记：明人就其顶平旷处为浮图七级。清乾隆、道光年间补修，更名为“文光塔”，寓县风之盛。塔身、塔基呈八边形，须弥座，塔基条石建造，边长2.5米，高1.83米。塔身砖石结构，七级楼阁式，层层上收，各层均开窗，八角攒尖宝珠顶，通高30米。座层弧形顶门，额刻知县陈长墉题“文光塔”三字。门柱刻：“七级重光喜毓钟英书台启秀，三台上映看经文纬武天榜题名”，乃县人进士张震撰书。题记为“道光二十六年丙午冬月。”
游人可以绕实心柱盘旋而上，登完１１３级踏道，即上顶层，纵目四观，沱江如带，天桥如虹，城廊云烟，田野碧波，锦绣画屏，尽收眼底。１９８２年７月，富顺县人民政府公布为文物保护单位。
