采用传真技术印刷的书报版面或印刷品。传真系统工作原理与电报相似，包括发射机组与接收机组两个基本部分。发射机发出光束在待传输的文字、表格、图形、照片及整页书报版面进行扫描，经透镜将从这些稿件反射出来的光聚集在光电转换器上，使其转化为适用于通信系统的电子信号。然后通过有线或无线电信系统传输到接收机，把接收到载有文字、图像信号的通信电波进行复原,并在记录纸或感光材料上复制出原来的图文。由于对信息的传输比较方便、及时，已广泛应用于同一报刊在多地区同时印刷发行。
