飞机机身头部两侧或机翼根部前缘向前延伸的水平狭长翼片。前者称为机身边条，用来控制机身头部在大迎角时的涡流,改善飞机的横侧稳定性;后者称为机翼边条。边条通常指机翼边条，主要用在展弦比为3～4的薄机翼上。它可改善机翼在大迎角时的气动特性,特别是升力特性。边条好像一个前缘尖锐、大后掠角(70°～80°)的细长三角翼。 在大迎角下， 在边条的前缘将形成强烈的涡流，它向后流经机翼的上方时，能延缓机翼的气流分离，增加机翼升力，改善飞机在大迎角时的稳定性。机翼边条能提高飞机的机动性，在超音速歼击机上得到广泛应用。边条的缺点是使飞机在小迎角下的阻力增加。但适当设计边条的形状，使边条带有一定曲度，可减小这种不利影响。
