载人航天器中供航天员进入太空或由太空返回用的气密性装置。气闸舱有两个气闸门，一个与密封座舱连接，称内闸门；另一个是可通向太空的外闸门。闸门的启闭可用电动机构，也可手动。气闸舱内设有闸门控制台、开启?⒚徘暗母牌爸谩⑼ㄐ藕驼彰魃璞福约?航天员出舱活动穿的航天服。闸门的启闭必须十分小心和熟练，避免漏气危险。航天员出舱进入太空活动前，在座舱内穿好航天服,走出内闸门后关闭内闸门,把气闸舱内空气抽入座舱内，当气闸舱内和外界空间的压力相等时才能打开外闸门进入太空。航天员返回气闸舱时按相反的顺序操作：关闭外闸门，把座舱内的空气泵入气闸舱，俟两者压力相等时,打开内闸门,航天员就可进入座舱。内、外闸门的气密性绝对可靠是气闸舱工作的基本条件。苏联"上升" 2号载人飞船首先应用了气闸舱，航天员Α.Α.列昂诺夫利用它走出舱外，进入太空。
