原产于美国密西西比河，重点分布在伊利湖、．安大略湖、安艾达湖以及其它河流和附属水体内，通过驯养已成。 介绍:
体延长，后部侧扁，头部平扁，尾叉较深。胸鳍有一硬棘，末端较尖，背鳍短，有脂鳍。体表光滑无鳞。体上部呈淡蓝色或橄榄色，腹部银白色，体侧分布有黑色或深褐色斑点，当其体重超过2500克以后，斑点逐渐消失。口亚下位，有触须4对，口角须最长，超过胸鳍基部，颐须和鼻须较短。
