鞍形曲面I,创阮surtaee;ee皿月0咖uo“ep粗oc几」 负曲率的曲面(朋朗tive eurvature,surface of)的一种推广.设M是3维EuClid空间E’中一个曲面,由2维流形w到E’中的浸人f:w~E’定义.如果平面“截M使得集合M\:在评中的逆象的连通分支中有一个具有紧闭包,那么就称:从M上割下一个痴.M上对应于这个连通分支的部分称为一个痴(c皿t)(见图).尸。二 曲面M称为鞍形曲面,如果任何平面都不可能从M上割下一个痴.鞍形曲面的例子有单叶双曲面、双曲抛物面和直纹曲面.一个二阶连续可微曲面是鞍形曲面的充要条件为曲面的〔抽uss曲率(C厄璐s如curvatl址e)处处非正.所有的点均为鞍点(saddlepoint)的曲面是鞍形曲面. 一条可求长曲线界限的鞍形曲面,关于它的由空间度量诱导的内蕴度量,是具有非正曲率的2维流形负曲率曲面的许多性质可以推广到鞍形曲面类,但是这些曲面似乎还不构成像凸曲面那样自然的曲面类.
