| 磁暴 geomagnetic storm 全球性的强烈地磁场扰动。所谓强烈是相对其他地磁扰动而言。其实磁暴时地面地磁场变化幅度较其平时的稳定值是很微小的。在中低纬度地区，地面地磁场变化量很少有超过几百纳特的，而地磁场宁静值一般都超过3万纳特。一般的磁暴都需要在地磁台用专门仪器作系统观测才能发现。 磁暴是常见现象，不发生磁暴的月份是很少的。当太阳活动增强时，可能1个月发生数次。磁暴期间，地磁场的磁偏角和垂直分量都有明显起伏，但最具特征的是地磁场水平分量的变化。大多数磁暴开始时，水平分量陡然上升，在中低纬度的地磁台站，其上升幅度约10～20纳特。这称为磁暴急始。磁暴开始急，发展快，恢复慢，一般须持续3天才逐渐恢复平静。有的磁暴没有急始，称为缓始型磁暴。 磁暴的成因与太阳活动特别是太阳耀斑的出现有关。耀斑的喷出物在其前缘形成激波，以1000千米／秒的速度，约经1天，传到地球。当激波扫过地球时，磁层就突然被压缩，造成地球一侧的磁场增强。磁暴引起电离层暴从而干扰短波无线电通讯；磁暴有可能干扰电工、磁工设备的运行，还有可能干扰磁测量工作。 |
