性质：能使昆虫丧失生殖能力的药剂。在一定条件下，经绝育剂处理后，昆虫就不能大量繁殖。如对成虫处理后，能使受处理昆虫当代不能产卵；即使产卵也不能正常孵化；即使孵化正常，也可引起其后代不正常生育，并导致绝种。绝育剂根据其作用可分为三类：（1）影响生殖细胞的成熟分裂或细胞分裂的药剂，如秋水仙素、氮芥等；（2）影响生殖细胞生长成熟中代谢过程的药剂，如N-[对（2,4-二氨基-6-甲基蝶啶甲胺）苯基]谷氨酸，要能影响卵黄体成熟；（3）影响受精过程的药剂，如双（对氯苯基）三氟乙醇等。在农业上，一般可与杀虫剂结合使用。
