性状描述：白色结晶或粉末。熔点171-172℃ ，沸点219-220℃ /1.3kPa，溶于乙醇和水，微溶于乙酸乙酯、苯、不溶于乙醚、四氯化碳，对铜、铝有腐蚀作用，有刺激性。

生产方法：用相应的硝基化合物还原或催化氢化方法制取。

用途：磷霉素的中间体，亦可作硫化促进剂、化妆品（霜剂、洗剂）、矿物油、石蜡乳化剂，生物学缓冲剂。
