英国最大的化工企业，也是世界最大的化学公司之一,又译帝国化学工业公司，简称ICI。主要由英国染料公司、布鲁纳－蒙德公司、诺贝尔工业公司和联合碱公司等4个公司于1926年12月合并而成,总部设在伦敦。起初生产酸、碱、氯气、合成氨、化肥、染料、炸药、涂料、皮制衣服和有色金属产品，后来增加了纤维、石油化工、塑料、医药、农药、催化剂、助剂、溶剂和特种化学品。该公司1931年开始生产聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯（有机玻璃），1934年生产酞菁蓝染料，1939年开发了高压气相法低密度聚乙烯并投入生产，1941年发明了聚酯纤维，50年代初投入工业生产，1945年生产了六六六杀虫剂，1956年首先生产了反应性染料，1966年开发了低压法合成甲醇，70年代中期后在拟除虫菊酯农药方面创制了一系列品种。1983年该公司在各地共有 400多家分公司和十多家联合公司，总营业额达117.14亿美元，在世界200家大型企业化学公司中居第5位，产值约占英国化工总产值的1／3。（见彩图）
