闪锌矿 sphalerite 锌的硫化物(ZnS)矿物。含锌67.1%,常含铁( 超过10%者称铁闪锌矿)及镉、铟、镓、锗、铊等,是提炼锌的主要矿石,也是提炼上述稀有元素的原料。等轴晶系,晶体呈4面体或菱形12面体;集合体成粒状 。无色 ,随含铁量增加,从浅黄至棕色,甚至黑色。树脂光泽到半金属光泽。透明或半透明。莫氏硬度3.5~4.0 ,性脆 ,比重3.9~4.2。具完全的菱形12面体解理,常与方铅矿共生,产于热液矿床中,主要产地与方铅矿相同。
