Recently,many studies have described the relationship between winter temperature in China and some climate systems including the Siberian high(SH),the Arctic Oscillation(AO),ENSO and the western Pacific teleconnection pattern(WP).

warmer,normal and colder categories)is proposed based on the winter temperature data observed at 565 stations in China during 1956-2005,where the IWWI is defined as the ratio of the station number of warmer category over the total number of stations.

Using summer temperature data in Xinjiang from 1959 to 2000 and the methods of running mean, maximum entropy spectrum, empirical orthogonal function and linear regression, the basic features of summer temperature change in the Tianshan mountainous region for the recent 42 years were analyzed and compared with those in the Northern Xinjiang and the Southern Xinjiang.
