为犬科动物狗的脑髓，动物形态详"狗肉"条。
【化学成分】
脑的各部，化学组成并不一致，含率颇不相等。灰白质含水分78.7%，蛋白质1.70%，灰分1.51%；白质的含量相应为70.7%，1.82%，2.69%。两者均含有脂类，不等量的氯、磷、钠、钙、镁、钾、铁等。脑桥含水分70.11%，固形物29.89%，其中蛋白质占30.79%，类脂62.96%。类脂中含磷脂29.97%，硫脂8.47%。脑桥还含蛋白质硫和蛋白质磷。
【功用主治】
《别录》："主头风痹痛，疗下部匿疮，鼻中息肉。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，半具到一具。外用：捣敷。
【选方】
治眉毛鬃发火烧疮瘢，毛不生：蒲灰，狗脑和敷。(《千金方》)
