常用针灸穴位。属足少阴肾经，是井穴。因肾属水，本穴为肾经的第一穴，有如泉水初涌，故名。国际标准代号为KI1。
定位 足底二、三趾趾缝纹头端与足跟连线的前1/3与后2/3交点上。
取穴 ①足趾曲时的凹陷处；②足底前掌人字纹的顶端。
刺灸法 直刺0.5～0.8寸；可灸，一般认为灸法比针法效果更好；也可用药物外敷法，如治小儿流涎，用天南星外敷涌泉。
功用 通关开窍，祛湿化痰。
主治 眩晕，晕厥，小儿惊风，小儿流涎。
