性质:白炭黑在橡胶工业中主要用作优良的白色补强剂,能改善胶料的黏着力,赋予胶料较高的拉伸强度、伸长率、弹性、硬度、耐热性以及撕裂强度。其补强性能与它的粒径大小、表面性质、结构和在胶料中的分散性有关。它对橡胶的补强作用主要由两个方面的因素决定:(1)白炭黑微粒无定型状,结晶混乱,表面与橡胶大分子接触产生物理吸附;(2)白炭黑表面存在硅氧基、隔离羟基、氢链连接,尤其是白炭黑结构中心的—Si—O—键具有极性,能产生很强的结合能力,使白炭黑颗粒表面活性大,能与橡胶分子链形成牢固的化学键,达到补强效果。白炭黑与炭黑相比,比表面积更大,粒子更小,“结构性”更高,因而硫化胶拉伸强度、撕裂强度、耐磨性也高,但弹性下降,混炼胶的黏度增大。白炭黑常用于天然橡胶、丁苯橡胶、丁腈橡胶、氯丁橡胶、乙丙橡胶或它们的并用胶中作为补强填料。
