俗名:  燕子鲳、瓜核。 产地及产期:
    分布于印度洋和太平洋、我国只产于南海，尤以广东沿海产量较多。 介绍:
    体侧扁而高，近圆形。一般体长7～15厘米、体重10～20克、吻短，口小。前位，两颌牙尖锐，呈刷毛状的宽带。体被小圆鳞，背鳍鳍条部和臀鳍基底均被细鳞、背侧灰白色，腹部白色。背鳍2个，分离，其中第一背鳍的1～2鳍棘短小，第3～5鳍棘突出延长且粗壮坚硬；胸鳍短；腹鳍第1鳍条长；尾柄短，尾鳍双截形、腹鳍深灰色，其他各鳍均呈黄色。
