电影录音是电影创作中一个重要环节，它是一门专业性很强的技术，同时也是一门科学。如何根据电影剧情的需要对影片中的各种声音进行艺术构思和处理，从而塑造鲜明、生动的声音形象，所以它也是一门艺术。 在电影开拍之前，录音师必须制定出全片的声音音响构成方案。录音分先期录音、同期录音和后期录音三种。在混音机上把所有声带（对白、解说、音响效果、音乐）混录在一条复合声带上。这些录音都是采用磁性录音，录在一条混合磁带上，称为“混录磁底”，最后才将混录的磁底带转成光学声带供印制放映拷贝用。此时声音和画面被合成印制在影片上。所以说，当电影厂的混录双片被审查通过后，就要从混录磁底上将声音信号转录到一条光学声带上，称为“转光”。转光后的光学声带称为“光学声底”。因此，电影录音的工艺过程全部结束。 在整部影片中，一定要使声音始终保持统一的风格和格调，并和影片的风格格调和谐统一。声音作为电影美学的一部分，也应该具有本身的流派和美学原则。
