The review is summarized in some aspects,such as expression methods of soil volume change,characteristic of soil crack,water move mechanics in expansive soil,models of soil shrinkage characteristics curve and related factors affecting soil swelling-shrinkage.

Study on stress and deformation of dilative soil canal;

For the research of expansion and shrinkage characteristics of expansive rock,two typical expansive rocks,namely marl and clay rock,of Xinxiang section of the Mid-route of South-to-North Water Transfer Project are selected to perform a large-size test of expansion and shrinkage characteristics for the disturbed sample which has been screened through a 20mm sieve.

The swelling rate of several typical soils in Loess Plateau was measured and the influence of particle fraction,content of CaCO3 and organic matter on soil swelling rate was analyzed in order to probe into the mechanism of soil structure stability.
