清凉峰为皖浙边境西天目山最高峰。海拔1787米。位于安徽省东南部，介于歙县、绩溪县和浙江临安县之间。属中亚热带湿润季风气候，温暖多雨，自然生态良好。保护区面积约3000公顷。有木本植物400多种,草本植物千余种。著名者有华东黄杉、南方铁杉、三尖杉、香果树、鹅掌楸、赤楠、连香树、银杏、领春木、银雀树、天目木姜子、珍珠黄杨、白杜鹃、山梅花、箭竹、黄山松等，林间有八音鸟、相思鸟、白颈长尾雉、苏门羚、短尾猴、猕猴等珍禽异兽。为保护这一地区的生态系统、安徽省已于1979年将清凉峰划为自然保护区。区内亦多奇峰怪石和山泉瀑布，盛夏最高温多在25℃以下，是理想的游览避暑胜地。
