，白理人类学(p syehologieal anthropology)20世纪60年代出现的由心理学和文化人类学合流而产生的一门新的分支学科。它的诞生以1961年许(Hsu)的 《心理人类学一长文化与人格的观点》一书的出版为标志。早在20世纪20年代，人类学中就出现了“文化与人格”学派，这个学派先是接受弗洛伊德和荣格的精神分析学说的影响，后来又引进了心理学中的人格测验和心理统计方法以及行为主义学派的研究方法。心理学和文化人类学的结合，从研究的目的任务到研究内容、方法，到研究的重点，都己突破了“文化与人格”的范围，变得更为广泛，更为多样，因而，心理人类学这门新的分支学科就应运而生。从事心理人类学研究的既有文化人类学家如许、维特·巴诺等人，也有心理学家如弗洛姆和杰荷达等人。心理人类学的研究领域涉及文化的与心理的各个方面，并在不断向广度和深度扩展。已注意对生活在不同民族文化中的人的心理过程(学习、知觉、智力发展等)进行研究，还研究个体和群体的社会性格、个体社会化过程、认同的文化差异、涵化与文化变迁、越轨行为、变态心理、精神病理与文化的关系等。在研究方法上，则力求把心理学的实验研究方法同人类学的自然主义的田野调查与现场研究方法结合起来。 (胡才L遇撰张世害审)
