与海螺沟冰川森林公园毗邻的燕子沟生态旅游区位于蜀山之王—贡嘎山东麓、距县城60km处的新兴乡境内。其风景可与海螺沟冰川森林公园媲美，为海螺沟的姊妹沟，她们融低海拔现代冰川、森林、珍稀动植物、古驿道、草原、高山湖泊、奇峰异石和温、冷泉于一体，一年四季景色各异、美不胜收。春夏时节，牛羊成群，杜鹃、马蹄莲、百合等各类鲜花竞相开放，山花烂漫，繁花似锦；秋季满山枫叶红似火；隆冬冰雪覆盖、玉树琼枝，一片银妆。是休闲避暑、旅游、登山、探险、滑雪、溜冰、领略草原风光、回归大自然的好去处。
