永宁桥原址在西栅河西端，早废。今天站在安境桥上可一览胥塘河两岸的全景，南望古朴的廊桥。胥塘河狭小成水巷，巷西是仿古一条街，巷东是古老的塘东街。永宁桥是目前镇上最好的观景点了。河北岸朝南埭长廊如一条逶迤长龙臣伏在水边，行人和自行车都在廊下行走，其风味为其他古镇所少见。河南岸是西街的后面，沿河有高低错落的民居建筑群，大多为清末至民国年间，大宅的风火墙高高耸起，青砖黛瓦和石河桥尽收眼底。这里的景观最得摄影家和画家们的青睐，是他们创作的猎景之地。
