1. 高中低档数控设备的搭配
由于数控设备的价格相对昂贵，企业可根据自己的实际情况，在早期进行数控加工技术的应用时，选用改造数控设备进行技术应用投资，取得一定的应用经验后。再根据产品的加工特点，如材料状态、类型、精度、批量、周期要求等，配置合适的中高档数控设备。
2. 设备的验收
很多数控机床其补偿精度在高速加工的情况下出现较大的误差，或者是主轴运转的速度难以长时间运行，导致主轴因高温烧毁的现象发生。在进行设备验收时，除国家的验收标准外，可以附加企业自身产品加工要求的验收条件。
3. 设备功能开发
设备功能的开发涉及数控系统的掌握程度，刀具及工件材料与切削参数的合理匹配。例如，立式数控铣床安装角度铣头进行卧式加工，数控铣床进行镗孔、攻螺纹加工，数控车削加工的固定循环，数控线切割机床和电火花机床的电加工参数的合理选择等。
