In his article “Chinese Translatology and its Specific Characteristics”, Chang Nam-fung put forward the following arguments;(1)Chinese translatology is area-restricted translation studies;(2)The advocate of establishing “Chinese translation studies”is a product of national prejudice; and (3)The Chinese translatology only has applied translation theories but lacks pure translation theories.

Through analyzing different ways of translating terms and names and the special cases in which transliteration and zero-translation can be used the writer argues that,in most cases,E/C Translation of te.

After comparing zero-translation with non-translation,untranslatability,domestication and foreignization,this article concludes that zero-translation is a new method of translation.

In order to solve the problem, the paper introduces a few means of zero-translation, such as omission, transliteration and transference, and also points out the matters needing attention in applying the means.

Zero Translation: the Normalization Modal of Terminology Translation;

The application of zero translation can help solve the problem of word absence in the target language caused by linguistic and cultural differences as well as the originality of the source language.

In order to solve the problem brought about by the translation of the English word " laser" , we adopt zero translation as a normalization mode so as to compensate for the deficiency of other modes and ensure the accuracy of words.
