Aiming at some general disadvantages in large class quota teaching, such as the low percentage of participation, the lack of intercourse, the difficulties of face whole staff and so on, and the presently existing problems in cooperative learning, such as the shortage of cooperative skill, the absence of active communication etc.

However, although there has been an increasing amount written about the role of Communicative Activities in language classrooms, there remains a lack of detailed description of its application to large classes, which is often the reality of foreign language teaching in China.
