| 利奥波德二世（1835～1909） LeopoldⅡ 比利时国王（1865～1909）。1835年4月9日生于布鲁塞尔，卒于1909年12月17日。在位期间对内依靠工商业资产阶级，实行自由贸易政策，使比利时发展成为工业国。对外实行殖民侵略，1876年组织国际非洲协会，以考察和开发非洲为名，以个人名义霸占刚果大片土地，称之为刚果自由邦，1885年4月30日比利时国会正式授予他刚果自由邦君主称号。他对当地居民的残酷剥削、压迫和屠杀，遭到世界舆论的谴责。1908年刚果转归比利时政府管辖，成为比利时殖民地，即比属刚果（今扎伊尔共和国）。利奥波德二世时期的比利时政府多次参与侵略中国。 |
