We have carried on a research about the current situation of the desk-chair and light environment in the classroom, and the effect on student s eyesight and health development of desk-chair and light environment of the 42 classrooms of 16 middle schools and 10 primary schools in Xiamen, 2037 students.
以人类工效学和学校卫生学理论为基础,采用文献法、专家调查法、问卷调查法、访谈法、测量评价法、比较分析法、数理统计法,就中小学教室课桌椅及光环境现状、课桌椅及光环境对学生视力和身体形态发育的影响,对厦门市16所中学、10所小学42间教室、2037名学生进行了研究,在此基础上提出了相应的建议与对策。

宋代螺甸桌椅 据《清波杂志》载：“高宗即位之初，崇尚俭德，谓螺甸淫巧之物不可留，将螺甸桌椅等物一并毁弃。”可知宋代已有镶嵌螺甸的桌椅。惜至今尚未发现实物。
