组合商标是指由文字和图形两部分组合而成，使用在商品或服务上的标志。组合商标具有图文并茂、形象生动、引人注意、容易识别、便于呼叫等优点。但文字与图形的组合必须协调，表达的中心思想必须明确，不可用牛的文字配合马的图案，令消费者不知所云。这种中心思想不突出，缺乏显著性的组合商标，不仅令消费者费解，在申请人提交此类商标注册申请时，也难以获得核准注册。
