纵向研究(longitudinal study)对同一个或同一组个体的心理活动进行观察或实验的长期跟踪研究。如研究一个人的智力是否随年龄增长而变化，早期情感剥夺对儿童以后的行为发展的影响等。优点是能较系统地了解某一行为或心理特点发展的连续性及其发展的转折点。缺点是研究时间较长，被试数量有限，也较易流失;可能因同一被试反复测验而受学习效应的影响;可能受“世代变迁”因子的干扰〕 (刘金花撰份于方审)
