通过理论阐述与实地探访调研相结合的方式,本文选取上海戏剧学院舞蹈学院和附属舞蹈学校为例,以调查上海舞蹈艺术教育大学本科阶段与中专阶段现状为主,结合中美舞蹈艺术教育对比和国内舞蹈艺术教育现状分析,初步探索适合上海舞蹈艺术教育的定位和教学模式。

中等舞蹈专业学校。创办于1960年 3月。学制6~7年,设有民族舞表演专业和芭蕾舞表演专业,主要学习舞蹈、音乐以及一般文化课程。专业教师由艺术院校毕业生和有经验的演员担任,文化课由上海师范学院的毕业生教授。学校经常与国内外著名舞蹈艺术家进行学术交流,并到全国各地搜集整理民间舞蹈素材,丰富教学内容。建校以来到1984年为止,已培养3000多名毕业生,为上海及部分其他省市的专业舞蹈团体输送了演员、教员、编导等专门人才。1964年,学校师生根据同名歌剧改编演出的《白毛女》,得到国内外的普遍好评,在芭蕾民族化方面是一次比较成功的尝试。此外,学校还先后创作演出了芭蕾《苗山风云》、大型民族组舞《长征》以及《金孔雀》、《剑舞》等小型节目。该校现任校长凌桂明。
