Starting with a survey of Anglo-Saxon women s living situations and historical background, this thesis studies women as peace-weavers in Old English literary works —Genesis B, Wulf and Eadwacer, The Wife s Lament and Beowulf, and comes to the conclusion that most of these peace-weavers are doomed to fail in their efforts to weave peace inside their families or between tribes.
