　　用来核算和监督应由几个会计期间共同负担的费用，并将这些费用在各个会计期间之间进行分摊的账户。这类账户是基于权责发生制原则设置的。

　　跨期摊提账户核算的费用分为两种情况：（1）有些费用先一次支付，但根据其受益期需要在当期和以后若干期方能逐渐计入生产成本或期间费用。如订阅报刊杂志，一次要付若干月份的费用，但周月只应负担当月的费用。所以支付的订阅费就应先计入待摊费用，然后再分配摊入有关费用；（2）有些费用先逐渐发生，但结算办法要求过了若干期后才支付。如银行借款的利息，按其结算办法是按季3个月支付一次，而借款在借款单位每个月都发挥作用，因此，借款的利息虽然还未支付，也要每月计入有关费用将其预提出来。跨期摊提账户包括“待摊费用”账户和“预提费用”账户。

　　跨期摊提账户的结构是：借方登记费用的实际支出数；贷方登记各个会计期间负担的费用数。付而尚未摊销的待摊费用数额。“预提费用”账户的期末余额一般在贷方，表示已预提而尚未支付的预提费用数额。有时“预提费用”账户的期末众矢之的也付出现在借方，如分期记入各期的费用额小，实际支付的数额大。“预提费用”账户出现借方余额，表示已支付而尚未摊销的待摊费用数额。
