素有“樟树之乡”美称的严田镇位于江西省吉安市安福县境内的西部，东邻横龙，南与寮塘交界，西与洋溪接壤，北靠泰山、章庄，安莲公路和安宜公路两条省道在严田镇区交汇。全镇国土面积192.6平方公里，辖16个行政村，154个村民小组，人口有23495人，以农业人口为主。
严田民风淳朴、物产丰富、交通便利，是安福西乡的政治、文化、经济中心。全镇拥有山林面积15800公顷，森林覆盖率达58%，山上林木资源丰富，拥有松、杉、荷、槠等乔木以及山苍子、毛栗等灌木；山下樟树成荫，邵家王泥堂的樟树之王“八爪樟”，严田老屋里的“五爪樟”闻名全国。镇区以农业种植为主，主种水稻，特产西瓜、生姜、李子、花生、玉米、香菇、木耳等，油菜是该镇的传统经济作物，烤烟、花卉苗木是新近发展的特色产业。
