补充资料：第六届全国残运会
2003年9月16日在南京开幕，9月17日至23日在江苏省南京、常州、扬州三市进行了比赛。这是全国残运会第一次由一个省承办、第一次不在同一城市举行。本届残运会作为新世纪首次残疾人综合性体育盛会，充分体现了“平等、参与、共享”的主题，来自全国31个省市自治区和香港、澳门特别行政区、新疆生产建设兵团的35个代表团参加了比赛。本届残运会共设田径、游泳、举重、射击、射箭、乒乓球、羽毛球、自行车、盲人柔道、盲人门球、坐式排球、轮椅网球、篮球（轮椅、聋人）、轮椅击剑等14个比赛项目，共有2229名残疾人运动员参加了比赛，与会总人数超过7千人，参赛运动员总数、与会人员总数和比赛设项数均创全国残运会新纪录。在全部比赛中，共有78人超95项次世界纪录，3人平3项次世界纪录，269人破447项次全国纪录。
