On contemporary social and historical background, the collision between west and east art, traditional and contemporary art, promote the formation of a unique art style of Macao art, and reflect the conflict and integration between colonial consciousness and anti-colonial consciousness, traditional concept and modern concept.

This paper,based on close textual analysis of Joseph Conrad s famous novel Heart of Darkness,argues that while anti-colonialism is the major thematic concern of the novel its implied colonialist consciousness is not to be overlooked,and that the inconsistency in the narrator Marlow s discourse coincides with the author Conrad s contradictory value judgment and moral standards.

With the postcolonial context as its background,this paper researches into the decolonizing consciousness in literary translation in modern and contemporary times in China after analyzing some leading writers and translators in terms of their translation purposes,text selection and translation strategies.
