| 金昌市 位于中国甘肃省河西走廊东部。辖永昌县。面积9593平方千米。人口约35万，汉族为主。原属永昌县金川镇，随着有色金属矿产的开发，于1981年设立省辖市，取原永昌县属金川镇和永昌县两地名首尾各一字而得名。境内山川河谷交替，戈壁绿洲相间。是河西地区商品粮基地。各种优良西瓜、白兰瓜以个大、肉厚、糖多而行销省内外。以盛产镍、钴、铜、金、银及铂族贵金属而著称于世，非金属矿产有煤、萤石、石灰石、膨润土等。硫化镍储量居全国之首，并因此而享有镍都之称。是中国最大的镍、钴生产基地和铂族贵金属提炼中心，被列为全国矿产资源综合利用的三大基地之一 。金川有色金属公司是一个集采、选、冶和辅助生产单位于一体的大型联合企业。金昌市内有三角城遗址、高庙古城遗址、鸳鸯池遗址、钟鼓楼、百子洞等多处古迹名胜，另有西汉时安置罗马战俘的骊靬城。
